As asymmetric warfare and grey-zone conflicts become more prevalent, law-fare’s relevance is increasingly heightened
It’s a legal tool as a substitute for conventional military action
LAWFARE can create or RE—interpret (reinterpreting) international law in order to then disadvantage an adversary
LAWFARE is the use of legal systems and institutions to damage or de-legitimize an opponent, or to deter an individuals usage of their legal rights
The term MAY refer to the use of legal systems and principles against an enemy, such as by damaging or de-legitimizing them, wasting their time and money ( SLAP suits) or winning a public relations victory
